Too much computer time is a common migraine trigger. This is partially because many migraineurs are sensitive to light. How many of us use a computer (or some type of electronic device) all day long? I’d be surprised if the answer is not all of us. It’s our new normal so for those of us that are extremely sensitive to light, what are we left to do? Have headaches each day, be miserable, AND effectively perform our jobs? That’s improbable and not to be expected. We have to take migraine seriously and make our health a priority.
One helpful preventative tool is an anti-glare computer screen filter. The one I have in my office is by 3M. You’ll need to find the one that is the right size for your monitor(s). The anti-glare filter makes it much easier to work for long periods at a time (not too long, of course, I recommend taking a break at least every two hours to rest your eyes, move around, and get a protein-rich snack ). I also suggest creating an office space that works best for you.
